What you need to use Frames

Frames runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac. It doesn’t need an account, and everything you make stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account.

#Devices and software

Device Software
iPhone iOS 26 or later
iPad iPadOS 26 or later
Mac macOS 26 or later

Frames can frame screenshots from many more devices than it runs on, including Apple Watch and older iPhone and iPad models. See Supported devices.

#Optional

None of these are required to start framing screenshots.

  • iCloud: To keep your projects, Groups and presets on all your devices, sign in to iCloud and turn on iCloud Drive. See Sync across your devices.
  • Photo library access (iPhone and iPad): Quick Frame asks for access the first time you use it, so it can find your newest screenshot. Everywhere else, Frames uses the system photo picker, which needs no permission. See Use Quick Frame.
  • Music access (iPhone and iPad): Only needed if you use the artwork of the song you’re playing as a background. See Change the background.
  • Frames Pro: A one-time purchase that adds video export, full-resolution export, batches and multi-device layouts. Everything else is free. See What’s included in Frames Pro.
