Add a shadow

A shadow lifts the device off the background. You choose how far it falls, how soft it is, how dark it is, and which way it’s cast.

#Add and adjust a shadow

1. In the editor, go to the Shadow section. On iPhone, tap Style first.

2. Turn on Shadow.

3. Adjust the shadow. On iPhone, tap Adjust Shadow to show the controls over the preview, so you can see the result as you drag.

   • Distance: How far the shadow falls from the device.
   • Blur: How soft the shadow’s edges are.
   • Opacity: How dark the shadow is.
   • Direction: Choose one of nine positions on the grid. The middle position puts the shadow directly behind the device, evenly on every side.

Distance isn’t available when the shadow is directly behind the device, because it doesn’t move.

The shadow follows the shape of what it’s under: the device, or the screenshot’s rounded corners when Frame is off. It also grows with the device when you zoom in. See Zoom and position.
