Use Frames with Shortcuts
Frames adds two actions to the Shortcuts app, so you can frame screenshots as part of your own automations, without opening Frames.
#The Frames actions
- Frame Image: Frames one image and returns the framed image.
- Batch Frame Images: Frames several images and returns all of them, framed.
Both match the device automatically from each screenshot, and both take an optional preset. Leave Preset empty to frame the way you last did in the app, or choose one of your saved presets. See Save a look as a preset.
#Build a shortcut
-
In the Shortcuts app, create a new shortcut.
-
Add an action that gets a screenshot, such as Find Photos (with Is a Screenshot), Get Latest Screenshots, or Get Clipboard.
-
Search for Frames, then add Frame Image or Batch Frame Images.
-
Optionally, tap Preset and choose one.
-
Add an action that uses the result, such as Save to Photo Album, Copy to Clipboard or Share.
For example, a shortcut that runs Get Latest Screenshots, then Frame Image, then Save to Photo Album frames your newest screenshot from anywhere you can run a shortcut, including the Action button or Back Tap.
#Things to know
- Batch Frame Images with more than one image is part of Frames Pro. With one image, it works like Frame Image.
- Images are framed on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- The result is PNG, or JPEG if you’ve turned on Export as JPEG in Settings.
- Images are up to 2048 pixels on the longest side without Frames Pro, or full resolution with it. App Store canvas sizes are always Apple’s exact size. See Export size and resolution.
