If a screen recording isn’t on this device

If the editor says “This recording isn’t on this device,” the project was made on another device. Its look and preview synced through iCloud, but the video itself didn’t.

#Why it happens

Screen recordings are large, so Frames keeps their video on the device that imported it, to save your iCloud storage. Everything else about the project syncs. See Screen recordings and iCloud.

#Use the recording on this device

  1. Get the recording onto this device, for example with AirDrop or iCloud Photos.

  2. Open the project in Frames, then tap or click Choose Video.

  3. Choose the recording.

The project reconnects to the video and keeps all its settings, so you can play and export it here.

#Or use the original device

Open the project on the device that imported the recording. The video is still there, and any changes you make to the look sync back.
